대학교 스쿨 밴드였던 아리나(Arina)와 리코(Riko)는 다른 밴드의 음악을 카피하는 것에서 벗어나 자신들의 노래를 만들기로 하고 1997년 처음 밴드를 결성해 4곡을 완성한다. 몇 번의 멤버 교체 후 1999년 베이스 타마(Tama)와 드럼 인드라(Indra)가 합류하면서 모카(Mocca)라는 이름으로 본격적인 활동을 시작한다. 2002년 소녀의 일기장을 컨셉으로 한 데뷔 앨범 를 발표하고 ‘인도네시아 음악상(A.M.I) 최우수 신인상’을 수상하며 자국 내 100만장 이상의 판매고를 올린다. 2004년에는 스웨디쉬 팝 그룹 클럽 8(Club 8)과 인도네시아 국민가수 밥 투투폴리(Bob Tutupoly)를 참여시키며 두 번째 성공작 를 발매하고 싱가폴과 말레이시아, 일본과 한국 등으로 해외 활동에도 성공하게 된다. 2005년에는 가족 영화 의 사운드트랙을, 2007년에는 스윙잉 팝의 모카식 해석을 가장 잘 보여준 3집 를 발표했다. 한국에는 2007년 소개되어 CF, 드라마 등을 통해 소개가 되어 블로그 배경음악 등으로 돌풍을 일으키며 큰 사랑을 받고 있다. 2008년 그랜드 민트 페스티벌(Grand Mint Festival)로 내한하여 관객이 뽑은 해외아티스트로 꼽히고 이듬해인 2009년 6월에 성공리에 단독공연을 가졌다. 특히 보컬인 아리나는 국내의 옴니버스 앨범 <남과 여, 그리고 이야기>에서 페퍼톤스와 함께 작업했으며, 유영석 10주년 트리뷰트 앨범에 ‘White’의 보컬로 참여하기도 했다. .... ....
