달리아(Dahlia)는 1998년 작곡과 베이스, 프로그래밍을 주조하고 있는 켄이치 사이토(Kanichi Saito)와 보컬, 작사, 그리고 아트웍을 담당하고 있는 카오리(Kaori)에 의해 결성되었다. 1998년 선샤인 팝(Sunshine pop) 레이블에서 [Table talk]란 싱글을 가지고 활동을 시작으로 이듬해 또 다른 싱글인 [Junefool]로 인지도를 넓혔으며, 그러던 와중 현재의 해피니스 레코드(Happiness Records)로 이적하여 새 출발하게 된다. 2001년 5월, 레이블 이적 이후의 첫 번째 Ep인 [Quartrieme]를 발표했으며 해피니스 레코드가 자랑하는 컴필레이션 시리즈인 [Tokyo Bossa nova]에 곡을 수록하면서 화제의 중심에 떠오르게 되는데 그 후 2003년에 드디어 첫 번째 정규 앨범 [Le mode D’emploi]를 발매한다. 성공적인 첫번째 정규앨범이라는 결과물과 더불어, 꾸준한 DJ 활동을 해오던 달리아는 2004년 여름, [Musics For My Funeral] 이라는 제목의 미니 앨범을 발매하는데, 여러 유명 아티스트들과의 콜라보레이션을 통해 보사노바 스타일로 굳혀졌던 기존의 이미지에서 일렉트로니카나 소프트 팝 등의 다양한 색깔을 소화해 낼 수 있는 아티스트임을 보여준다.
달리아는 한국에 상당한 지명도를 가진 아티스트로 알려져 있다. 한국의 여러 CF에 음원이 사용되었고, 성공적인 내한공연을 마쳤으며 현재 가장 성공적인 행보를 보여주고 있는 한국 라운지 아티스트인 허밍 어반 스테레오(Humming Urban Stereo)의 앨범에 참여하는 등의 국내 커리어를 쌓아갔는데, 그녀의 인기는 아직도 이 곳에서 진행 중에 있다. .... ....
