Hewlett's daughter
loved her father and I think she loved me too for a little while. Hewlett's daughter I forgot her now I'm treating watter and waste at night. High above the wrecks on ice shelves and glaciers. I spy below the mess and measure the pressure. Where sofas float on roads and somebody stole your guns well sir I'm the only one to get back your stolen guns I should have been your son. High above the wrecks on ice shelves and dressers. With crash united sewn on all of my dress shirts. They firefell the roads and somebody stole your guns well sir I'm the only one to get back your stolen guns I should have been your son. |

Last night something
pretty bad happened we lost a friend, all shocked and broken shut down exploded Jeddy 3 is what we first called him then it was Jed, but Jed's system's dead therefore so's Jed We assembled him in the kitchen made out of this and, made out of that and, whatever was at hand When we finished Jed we were so proud we celebrated, we congratulated at what we'd created Jed could run or walk sing or talk and compile thoughts and solve lots of problems we learned so much from him A couple years went by and something happened we gave Jed less attention, we had new inventions we left for a convention Jed had found our booze and drank every drop he fizzled and popped, he rattled and knocked, and finally he just stopped. |

Should never have left
the crystal lake for parties full of folks who flake, italian leather winter games retired by the duraflames. The crystal lake it only laughs, it knows you'r just a modern man, it's shining like the chandelier, shining somwhere far away from here. I've gotta get outta here (x4) and find my way again. I've lost my way again. Should never have left the crystal lake for areas where trees are fake, and dogs are dead with broken hearts collapsing by the coffee carts. The crystal lake it only laughs, it knows you'r just a modern man, it's shining like the chandelier, shining somwhere far away from here. I've gotta get outta here (x4) and find my way again. Off on a merry way, Often alotta days, Lost on yer merry way Cause unrevealed and never known...And never known... Trouble with people like me, Tie 'em down and then they vanish instantly Let this one fly... Its really no problem, you see, When the sky ignites and your days crash quietly, Let this one fly... I never know their names, But i smile just the same
New faces...Strange places, Most everything i see, Becomes a blur to me And i'm wasted because, The fast pace is too much Here at the final push to the sum If my old life is done, Then, what have i become? What have i become? Every now and then, The memories creep in A breeze and blue skies, The trees and you and i But if my old life is done, i guess that i've moved on To new faces and strange places, Here at the final push to the sum If my old life is done, then, What have i become? What have i become? What have i become? What have i become? What have i become? What have i become? |

He just finished
Eating dinner And stepped outside the cave to smoke A cigarette he'd made From rolled up photo paper They were pictures of things back on earth He looked out On the grayish white expanse Of uninhabited terrain He now called home He'd seen plenty Mirages and imaginary visitors Up until then So he wasn't sure what to think when He saw swans And they were wading on the shores Of a pale white lake He had never seen there before And it was quite beautiful And it was far away Cause everything beautiful is far away He knew he was as good as gone But gone was somewheres He really didn't mind going to Since the shuttle had crashed Many years had passed And the pictures of his loved ones That he drew on the walls of the cave Had finally faded He put out his smoke And proceeded towards the lake Repeating to himself Everything beautiful is far away. |

Most typically my dreams are dreadfully boring, therefore i go to these places just to see the girls ... with hair like hers, with clothes like she wore, with smells like hers, with handwriting like hers ..... You wrote me little letters and, you brought me lunch that time, at my work and that poem you left, on my windshield wrapped in plastic, to protect it from the rain. Just how How many times How many times have I sat right here and seen that skyline at twilight And told myself I'm gonna be alright But at the last light after saying goodbye You can't rest at night inside your head Yeah at that last light after sayin'goodbye It's such a sad sight cause of what we said (Ahh, oh) [Whistling] Now just how How many times How many times have I sat right here And again that skyline And again that twilight And again tell myself i'm gonna be alright But at that last light after saying goodbye You can't rest at night inside your head yeah at that last light after sayin' goodbye It's such a sad sight cause of what we said (Ahh) Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye |

And all of the bedroom window screens Thrown away for our teenage dreams Shacked up at Modesto Inn And all of a sudden your mom crashed in And she said: "No, she's not the one for you" Yeah, your mom, she always hated me Grab your keys, your clothes, your shoes Jeez Louise you should have avoided me Jeez Louise Remembering Jeez Louise A blanket in the summer evening breeze Secrets shared in our youth released Then one day they took you away And all of a sudden your mom called me And she said: "No, she's not the one for you" Yeah, your mom, she always hated me So just leave her broken, please Jeez Louise you should have avoided me Jeez Louise Jeez Louise Jeez Louise |

Summer, it's gone and I don't know
Where everyone went or where I'll go Summer, it's gone and I don't know Which way is the best way to go In dreams I hear voices that say "Look this way" But I can't see nothing So I turn away To head down roads Dead ends and holes And crowds of fools With common colds And they live in cars And their cars don't run They fight with phones And despise the sun The sun of summer It's gone and I don't know Where everyone went Or where I'll go Where I'll go Summer, it's gone and now it's clear That no one is showing up here In dreams I hear voices that say "Look this way" But it's all too lovely And so I turn away To head down roads Dead ends and holes And crowds of fools With common colds They live in cars And their cars don't run They fight with phones And they despise the sun The sun of summer, it's gone The sun of summer, it's gone The sun of summer, it's gone The sun of summer, it's gone It's gone, it's gone It's gone, it's gone It's gone |

You wrote me little letters and, you brought me lunch that time, at my work and that poem you left, on my windshield wrapped in plastic, to protect it from the rain. you slept right by the yogurt hut on a painted curb,
wearing nothing but some cut-offs and a muscle shirt. and at 5 AM the donut girls came quietly to work. when they slid the trays and banged the bowls, you woke up with a jerk. 32 ounce soda to start the day off right. every now and then remembering little things about last night. hold on, take 5, check out the fox in the corvette then you said, "you know it don't get any better than that." he spent all the money on an ornate waterbed, it had a carving of a tiger right above his head. and he's embarassed of the fact that he works at pizza shack, he says he made 90K a year before he hurt his back. and the money his sister owes him, his cousin has, but he's in jail. there's all these checks that should be arriving any day now in the mail. but mysteriously the checks won't show and the sticky boombox by the door will end up getting sold once more, for a lot less than before. |

Last night something pretty bad happened.
We lost a friend. All shocked and broken. Shut down, exploded. ‘Jeddy 3’ is what we first called him. Then it was Jed. Though Jed’s system’s dead. Therefore, so’s Jed. We assembled him in the Kitchen. Made out of this and... Made out of that and... Whatever was at hand. When we finished Jed we were so proud. We celebrated, we congratulated. At what we’d created. Jed could run and walk, sing and talk and... Compile thoughts and... Solve lots of problems. We learned so much from him. A couple years went by an’ somethin’ happened. we gave jed less attention. We had new inventions. We left for convention. Jed had found our booze and drank every drop. He fizzled and popped. He rattled and rocked. Finally he just stopped. |

Should never have left the crystal lake.
For parties full of folks who flake, Italian leather winter games Retired by the duraflames. The crystal lake it only laughs, It knows you're just a modern man, It's shining like a chandelier, Shining somewhere far away from here. I've gotta get out of here... And find my way again. I've lost my way again. Should never have left the crystal lake, For areas where trees are fake, And dogs are dead with broken Hearts, collapsing by the coffee carts. The crystal lake it only laughs, It knows you're just a modern man, It's shining like a chandelier, Shining somewhere far away from here. I've gotta get out of here... And find my way again.
