from A Weather - Winded [single] (2010)
It's a lot like
(You) riding a bike (You feel the same as before) Beneath the cold ash, and gust(?) of air (Your last coal is still warm) Give it a little gust. Shut your eyes for the dust, Close the door. You smell like old clothes. (Like old clothes) I used to know, (But haven't worn in a while) A clover pressed between (Between) Two chapters And a cliff-hanging moment(?) Before we do that again, Gonna have to take 10 and get some air. All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly And if the dust bursts all over the wind (I'm blown like a shy kiss) And it's no way to make a fist (You're gonna break your hand like this) I'm waking up young with you Everything I do's new and ??? And our faith has gone, (Our faith has gone) darn' it again (That's the light from the tower clock) These are the clouds, are we racing made? (Our love was written in white chalk) Start off sprinting, Turn it into jogging And then when to walk? All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly All that I need is, to steadily breathe in And let it out slowly |

from A Weather - Third of Life [single] (2011)
No matter when I wake up, the day always is the same length
I try to wake with the dawn but still the dark comes just as fast If I’m going to make it across I only want to swim once I’ll be a dolphin, a tern too excited to land And I’m learning shit on the way and I won’t until it’s over And no way to tell anyone anyway. No matter how I lie down the pillow always makes the same crease I try to move it around and sleep so my hair won’t get out of place If the routines will fail I’m worried that I will fail as well It’s a gigantic arc that brings the sun back to the tree tops. It’s a shame that you can’t go back to where you left offlike an old tape in a tape deck And it feels like a sauna when you have the heat up and the goose down And the sunlight on the window ledge If I’m going to make it across I only want to swim once I’ll be a dolphin, a tern to excited to land I hope at the end of the day I’ll have the courage And something important and comforting to say Oh my word is it enough? All my words are they enough? And I hope that they’re enough And I hope I’ve done enough Take a breath and brush it off Brush your teeth and sort your socks Sort of lear against the rock If the rocking chair won’t stop Oh my God I’m giving up All my eggs in different cups All my fears were not for not All my ears have heard a lot Hey don’t sweat the little stuff There but for the grace of us Do we leave the world untouched You’ve touched me and that’s enough |

from A Weather - Ducks In A Row [single] (2011)
It takes a midnight to get to a morning
It takes time to put ducks in a row Kick off the covers, uncover your arm Hold it to my ear like a phone When the spring will believe in this leaving And the leaves will spring up and blah blah You said, oh my god I love you and how Oh did I say that out loud I don’t want my ears to burn When the rain came, it sounded like breathing All banana peels and I couldn’t fall Hold the phone ‘till the call It’s the contract of canyons and mountains White mountains that leave you alone Leave you run down with soap in your eye To quietly rise like a cranefly From here on out I’m on my own I’m a moisture stain on the ceiling I’m a lattice clinging to dust I’m settling onto your face And I know full well you’ll brush me away And I’ll become water and rust When the wood smoke finally found us Did we really smell it at all? Hold the phone ‘till the call Running easy in barely there harness Hold it close and then leet it all fall Hold the phone ‘till the call |
