We were three little girls from school.
One was pretty, one was smart And one was a borderline fool. Well she's still good lookin' That woman hadn't slipped a bit. The smart one used her head She made her fortune. And me, I cross the border every chance I get. We were the girls of the 50's. Stoned rock and rollers in the 60's. And more than our names got changed As the 70's slipped on by. Now we're 80's ladies. There ain't been much these ladies ain't tried. We've been educated. We got liberated. And had complicating matters with men. Oh, we've said "I do" And we've signed "I don't" And we've sworn we'd never do that again. Oh, we burned our bras, And we burned our dinners And we burned our candles at both ends. And we've had some children Who look just like the way we did back then. Oh, but we're all grown up now. All grown up, But none of us could tell you quite how. We were the girls of the 50's. Stoned rock and rollers in the 60's. Hunny, more than our names got changed, As the 70's slipped on by. Now we're 80's ladies. There ain't been much these ladies ain't tried. A- my name is Alice. I'm gonna marry Artie. We're gonna sell apples And live in Arkansas. B- my name is Betty. I'm gonna marry Bobby. We're gonna sell beans And live in Brazil. C- my name is Connie. I'm gonna marry Charlie. We're gonna sell cars And live in California. |

Do you still get a thrill
When ya see me comin' up the hill? Honey, now do ya? Do ya whisper my name Just to bring a little comfort to ya? Do ya? Do ya still like the feel of my body lyin' next to ya? Well, I guess what I'm askin' do you still love me? Oh, do you lie awake thinkin' I'm the biggest mistake you ever made? Honey, now do ya? And if just by snappin' your fingers You could snap them fingers And make it all go away Honey, now would ya? Do ya miss me when I'm gone But sometimes wish that I'd stay gone Just a little bit longer? Well, I guess what I'm askin' Is do you still love me? 'Cause honey, I sure do still love you At least I think I do And these questions I'm askin' You could ask them of me too Do you still get a thrill When ya see me comin' up the hill? Honey, now do ya? Do ya whisper my name Just to bring a little comfort to ya?, Do ya? Do ya still like the feel of my body lyin' next to ya? Well, I guess what I'm askin' do you still love me? Do ya? Oh, do ya? Tell me, do ya? |

I remember breakfast
Used to be my favorite meal Big ol' eggs and lots of butter Food you could feel Now it's figs and twigs and fiber I'm pure as I can be But devils call, angels fall I want my BLT You can't do that, you can't do that There's no eating, cheating, trick, treating You can't do that You can't do that, you can't do that Well, let's talk about my love life It used to be so free If I saw something I wanted I just drag it on home with me Now, you're talking blood tests And sexual history Aw, it used to be fun to do run, run Now, it's life and destiny You can't do that, you can't do that There's no eating, cheating, trick, treating You can't do that You can't do that, you can't do that Don't say it feels good, don't you do it If it tastes good, throw it away It's a sad truth, don't deny it If you're gonna play, you're gonna pay They don't read the constitution Down there where I work My boss thinks he's a Romeo I think he's a jerk He's always making passes He's got hands in back of his head He'd love to see me naked Honey, I'd love to see him dead You can't do that, you can't do that There's no eating, cheating, trick, treating You can't do that You can't do that, no baby, you can't do that There's no eating, cheating, trick, treating You can't do that, you can't do that Don't do that |

Well there's a nursery rhyme, it's a favorite of mine
About a little girl and some sheep that she could not find They told her not to worry, they'd come back Darlin' you're my Shepard, I'm your little lamb But you ain't always gonna know where I am Oh but don't you worry, I'll come back I'll always come back baby to you I'll always run back, straight to you I'll never get too far away from you I'll never get too lost that I can't be found And I'm never gonna swim too far out, I might drown And I'll always come back, come back baby to you Well there's a wooden wonder from a way down under They call a boomerang, if you handle it right, it'll come back But you must have had me when you were a boy 'Cause you've got the touch that turns me into a toy And like a boomerang, I'll come back Now keep your eyes on the horizon And when you start to missing me Just look out your window and there I'll be 'Cause I'll always come back baby to you I'll always run back, straight to you I'll never get too far away from you I'll never get too lost and I can't be found And I'm never gonna swim too far out, I might drown And I'll always come back, come back baby to you I'll always come back, come back baby to you |

Hey Bobby would you like to go for a ride
In the country with me? I'm celebratin' ya see the four-wheeled beauty You're leanin' on it finally belongs to me I've never owned a car before And I've never picked a boy up at his own front door It'd be a red letter day If you'll come out and play in the country with me Hey Bobby will you ride a little ways down 299 To a lovely little spot I found? It's on a hilltop We can park in the shade and dance on the ground To a radio station where the hits don't ever stop Watch the sun go down, see the moon rise up Drink a champagne toast in a plastic cup Rock the night away, lookin' at stars Talkin' 'bout cars Bobby, with me Hey Bobby do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Watch the sun go down, see the moon rise up Drink a champagne toast in a plastic cup In future times that be When ya need a good memory, Bobby think about me Hey, Bobby do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? Do ya wanna huh? Do ya wanna huh? Huh? How 'bout it Bobby? Ya wanna go for a ride in the country? I'll get ya back real early, trust me Let me know it Do ya wanna huh? Huh? |
