were you scared at first?
did you really think I'd leave you hanging dry? have some faith, my friend. there's so much more to this than meets the eye. i fell into a fascination with all that's beyond our control. like a smile, or a heartache, or the truth of the soul. all my brothers are loved. all my brothers are safe from what is wrong. and what appears to be real isn't always real (isn't always real). what's the point in wrestling with a mask? i know it's only you down here. and there is one thing, one thing, so simple, so elusive, and oh so near. there's no time for your hesitation. leave all your senses behind. you are longing for reason and it's here by design. all my brothers are loved. all my brothers are safe from what is wrong. and what appears to be real isn't always real (isn't always real). |

this disease has wracked my body
since the day that we first met. i reel in delirium. it's no metaphor for love when my pillow's soaked with sweat. i wait for you to come and release me. take it away. it's the pain you can't imagine. ** let me have some of your medicine. let me have some of that serum that is coursing through your veins. let me have some of your medicine. give me something cool to fight this fever raging in my brain. or i will never be the same. never be the same ------ while i'm incapacitated you're out there flying high. immune to all infections. share some of the antidote while it's still in supply. don't keep me hanging too long for you to come and take it away. 'cause this patient's wearing thin. let me have some of your medicine. let me have some of that serum that is coursing through your veins. let me have some of your medicine. give me something cool to fight this fr medicine. let me have some of that serum that is coursing through your veins. let me have some of your medicine. give me something cool to fight this fever raging in my brain. or i will never be the same. **guitar solo** ---wild johnny let me have some of your medicine . . . |

it's september
and she's not around. i'm getting nothing down on paper. i wait for telltale signs and whispers. but the last time that i kissed her she didn't make a sound. who counts the clouds in the sky? who thinks of simple ways to die? who flies too close to the sun? only you, 'cause you knew it could be done. so help me fight myself out of this paper bag. i know i been left alone if you don't come pull me through. i always wish for something i could never have. i need to get out of here and fly just like you do. i'll start it simple - a paragraph. just a few thoughts on who you once were. i'll get to work on my own epitaph. just in case you find me too late for words. who counts the clouds in the sky . . . |

Wish I could believe
that it’s you, you’re the right one. Something’s up your sleeve I don’t know and I’m not interested. You think you’re a saint you’re a snob and you’re fickle. Seems to me that you are just a root for a pickle I feel good and I know I found another problem. I tell you I feel good and you know I found another problem. It’s my favorite drag. I’d be tickled pink to be the fool who gets taken. Why put up a stink when I know you’ll be fakin’ anyway? I just want a piece of your fruit ‘cause I like it. Baby take my flesh hold it high and just spike it I feel good and I know I found another problem. I tell you I feel good and you know I found another problem. It’s my favorite drag. And now it’s dead, and something’s wrong I can’t put my finger on it. She’s ok, better than the one before . . . Isn’t it all right? Doesn’t it feel all right? Isn’t it all right? It’ll be all right. Wasn’t it there, got your fair share? |

It starts with a twitch and
works its way up to a smile as the woman from the magazine introduces you. There's a long line of fools just waiting to be told what to do as the man of the cloth is zipping up his fly. The Reverend comes forth and he takes your hand and he blesses you and you notice he wears a rolex made of gold. It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's warm in the Hot Springs of Alaska Backed into the corner, suffocating in the scent you swore you're never wind up here again. Your eyes are upon her, as she's handing you the telephone, and you tell the wife "I'll be working late tonight." Lights go down. As your eyes roll back you think to yourself that It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's warm in the Hot Springs of Alaska It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's dark at the other side of my smile It starts with a twitch that you can't quite work into a smile As the woman from the magazine can't recall your name. The reverend's out cold and the fools have started throwing things then the lights come up and you realize it's people like these that make me think that It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's warm in the Hot Springs of Alaska It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's dark at the other side of my smile It's cold in the Highlands of Zambia It's dark at the other side of my smile Smile - |

must have been a plan
to drag me under. seems they've pulled this stunt before. each time i try to leave this place they slam the door. talk about a scam. they promised heaven. said i'd see my better days. they call me an angel then they damn me with faint praise. so where is my valhalla? and who's in charge here anyway? they're out of my favorite flavor again. so soon i'll pack my head and swing out west. how can i trust anybody after what they've put me through? looking for sympathy's like hammering a screw. what about the urn to hold my ashes? isn't there some place i'd be at peace? never believe it 'cause there's always something up their sleeves. so where is my valhalla . . . yes it was a plan. and now i'm under. and they're dancing in the dirt. look's like i'll never get my precious piece, my just dessert. |

i feel like i don't know what's changed
all the feelings that are on my mind. i feel like i don't know anymore what's yours and what is mine. i feel like i don't know where to go, what to do or what i should say. it's lookin' like i can't make it so i'm gonna find me another way. i'm looking for a lowdown, come around, steppin' out of this dog pound. i need to slow down, listen to the sound of the outbound, goin' round and round. i'm at the lowdown, come around. am i losin' what i just found, out of bounds? i'm at the touchdown, turnaround. with my feet in the air and my ear to the ground. i feel like i don't have what it takes to be a full-fledged contender. can i get a second chance or will i be another great pretender? and you're thinkin' i'm out of control. and you're thinkin' i'm losin' my soul. i gotta find another way. and it's right next door. |

Don`t play that music
It reminds me of better days. Before our love Started to fade away. I always wanted To give you everything you need. But it was never enough To make you feel like I loved you. (like our love was real) Get another man To let you down. You've got your roses. And you've got your diamond rings. But it's clear to me you're not satisfied With anything. So you'll find another interest. He'll be cool like I used to be And you'll cut him to size then apologize. He'll be a fool, he'll be a fool like me. Get another man?? You had a way of making me smile With your words, your touch, and your style. I can't believe it's come down to this I'm going to miss you So why don't you?? |

we would find ourselves alone again. it always smells the same - sickeningly sweet. never selling out even though you always told me to. i'm stuck - sippin' down and slippin' away. sippin' down and slippin' away. sippin' down and slippin' away. if i had a clue maybe i would tell you everything. i always played the fool. so don't believe my lies. yes, i've had a few. seems to me that maybe so have you. we're stuck - sippin' down and slippin' away. sippin' down and slippin' away . . . |
